Happy Almost New Year

While the calendar may have moved into 2023 and we’re almost 2 weeks into January we’re actually still in the conclusion phase of our yearly cycle according to Human Design.

[Whether you know lots or nothing about your Human Design keep reading, this is for everyone!]

Yep, that’s right. When looking at how the sun tracks through the 64 gates of the Rave Mandala and the 64 hexagrams of the Chinese iChing the sun doesn’t get back to its starting point, Gate 41 and the initiation into something new, until January 22, 2023.

So if you’re like me and never feel that January 1st is the ‘new beginning’ that the media and commercialization would have you believe, you’re in good company. And… there’s a reason for it!

Yes, there’s also a lot behind the exhaustion, zero headspace, and feelings of just treading water that can come through the holiday season and wrap-up of the calendar year. But taking a look at what’s happening energetically across the collective and then reflecting on your own experience is super empowering.

If nothing, perhaps this offers some relief. I find knowing that there’s basically three weeks into January that are more about wrapping up, reflection, and perspective than launching into something new really liberating.

Reflection is powerful and so incredibly important. Without reflection we don’t Pause and give ourselves space and curiosity of both what has gone really well and what we’d perhaps like to change. Both are equally important!

If you’ve been around for a while, you know my saying that Pause allows you to set your own PACE. Pause enables you to become present, gain awareness, move into choice, and ultimately design the experience you’re having.

Reflection and assessment are tools for awareness that then lead to conscious choices you make and thus the experiences you have in this new upcoming cycle. It all goes together.

So whether you’ve already kicked off strong into 2023 or have been feeling that you’re lagging I invite you to spent time with reflection.

Reflection helps lay the groundwork for new beginnings and experiences.

In reflection, look back and see what worked and what didn’t in the last year. What was most fulfilling to you? Was there ‘purpose’ and a sense of ‘spirit’ in what you were doing and how you were being?

When looking back do so without judgment of yourself (especially if something didn’t go well don’t shame yourself), simply look at the ‘facts’ and how things went. It’s all in effort to offer you perspective about what you need to move forward as yourself in this coming year and season ahead. Have a look both externally and internally within yourself.

Next in reflection, consider your support system, your team, your allies. What and who have you relied on and what do you need going forward?

Your ‘team’ is the key to fulfilling your ambition in the weeks and months ahead. Who can you work with and rely on? Who is supporting you and in your corner? This can be across all aspects of life as you think about building the support both from a tactical and perhaps emotional standpoint. You may not have exact names right now but bring awareness to the roles and areas that you need/desire support so you can align with the right people.

The final area of reflection and assessment is all about letting go. Create a clean slate moving forward and identifying what you are leaving behind.

Many of us tend to carry a lot of unnecessary baggage with us both literally and figuratively. You can put it down. What can be left behind as this cycle concludes? What does not need to be carried forward?

What is no longer serving you that you've been hanging on to? This can be everything from physical items, to negative self talk, to old beliefs, to relationships that don’t support you in the season ahead.

On January 22nd we move into the energy of new beginnings; it’s an initiation into something new. It’s the start of a new cycle - the next cycle of the human experience. So this is when I love to get really curious and pay attention to what’s happening both within and around myself. What’s new and popping up? What’s calling me forward and ready to come to life? How can I harness the energy and begin something new?

Give yourself a little bit of grace and don’t let the New Year, New You messages get you down. I encourage you to Find Pause, get curious in reflection, and see what perspectives come about the past season and cycle. Be open to simply being you and living a life of your design as we enter into the new cycle.

Find Your Pause.
