Finding Purpose

Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.
— Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

I've been thinking a lot about purpose over the last few months and it has popped up again in the last week or so. There are the ever present questions of 'what is my purpose', 'how do I bring more purpose into my life' and more recently for me with everything that I'm doing 'am I doing it with purpose as defined by me?'

Going through the coaching certification process has brought lots of self reflection but also now as I think about building a business I'm considering other people's purpose - or more accurately, how to help others discover and step into their own purpose. How can I really help people get what they want and truly desire that's not based on the expectations of others or the world around them? I want to build a purposeful tribe that empowers women and harnesses the strength found in each of us to support each other. We can all live the lives of our dreams as designed by each of us, it just takes some courage and effort. My vision is starting to become a bit more clear and I'm incredibly energized to begin bringing both content and community into the world. Stay tuned - it's going to be a lot of fun and resonate with many of you out there!

Today I re-listened to a podcast from Ivy: The Social University with guest Jeff Hittner on the topic of career transitions, finding purpose, and the courage it takes to embark on the journey. As he talked about the risks involved in stepping out to explore purpose Hittner said 'purpose is never found in your cubicle' - Amen! I felt instant connection to the thought and instant images popped in my head. There's often so much worry, fear, and tolerating of the dissatisfying job that we're in that it's impossible to see the potential reward of picking your head up, taking the time to look around, and do the risky thing that deep down you know is where your heart is - or is at least a step into the direction of purpose.

Purpose isn't going to suddenly be cast down on you from the heavens - trust me, I was waiting for that to happen! It takes a bit of bravery, courage, and the willingness to challenge yourself to embark on a journey of discovery. But know that the reward in the end, of living out the life of your dreams, as designed by you, and driven by your own purpose, is all absolutely worth it! This is the type of journey that I'm so excited to walk down with women in the coming months.

What's holding you back from exploring, discovering, and living your purpose?
