Words for Wednesday
I love quotes - always have. It seems that for every moment there's a quote, a lyric, or word that fits perfectly. I'm not sure where this love comes from but perhaps it's from years of athletics and using inspirational quotes to encourage myself and teammates to pursue excellence.
Years ago I was a huge fan of Successories - you know those cheesy looking posters with quotes about teamwork, perseverance, etc. and beautiful background photographs. Before the days of easy online searching I always looked at them in the airplane SkyMall catalog for anything new and inspiring. If you've watched How I Met Your Mother just think of Barney's office wall covered in the framed posters, that would have been my dream twenty years ago!
Today, as I pursue my coaching certification I'm constantly reminded of the power of quotes and particular words. The re-frame on a simple or common thought that a good quote provides can be magic. Whether they're reminders to ourselves to breath and take life more slowly, or of strength, resilience, and fight, or just worth a good laugh, words have the ability to impact us in the moment or maybe in the future when we need to come back to them.
With that in mind I'm starting a series called Words for Wednesday. Each Wednesday I'll share here and on Instagram some of my favorite quotes, words, and phrases in the hope of triggering you to consider it's meaning for you personally and maybe even start a conversation about it.
So I'll leave you with a bit of Robin Williams and be back next week with more!
