The Linger Movement

For months I feel like I’ve been grasping at ideas and in search of that one idea that was going to speak to me and I was going to be able to latch on to. An idea strong enough to evoke emotion in me and stir up the energy.

Recently I was doing some business idea brainstorming - what I really wanted to bring into the world, when and how I find myself in moments of flow - something I’ve done numerous times, and a word hit me so I started to run with it. This is a word that as I’ve sat with it and listened to the ideas coming through I realize is the very thread that weaves through so many of my experiences, and the desire to curate experiences for people, from the last few years. It speaks to my personal evolution and what I so deeply believe today. Life is best enjoyed when we take moments to pause, appreciate, embrace, and savor the sweetness of life. In short, linger. Linger to enjoy the moment, to appreciate life, to soak something in for a brief second longer. And from this The Linger Movement was born.

Where exactly it’s going to go, what it will turn into, how it’s going to evolve, I really have no idea. What I do know is that there’s energy behind it and that’s enough. I’ll follow where the energy is leading me and go from there.

The Linger Movement is all about taking a moment of pause, a breath, and the time to actually soak in the world around you. And yes, it’s lovely and easy to do that when there’s a beautiful view, an intoxicating smell, a moment of happiness, but I also wholeheartedly believe even in moments of stress, boredom of work, or sadness, there’s benefit in stopping to linger. Taking a moment of pause and breath to slow down creates the opportunity to be present. That then allows us to make a choice, to be grateful, to open our heart.

We often speed so quickly through life and if I’ve learned anything over the last few years it’s that slowing down, lingering awhile, is one of the fastest and most simplistic ways to bring joy and calm into life. Ironic, huh? As my coach and mentor Stacy says, ‘we must slow down to speed up’. This is so very true in all aspects of what we do. Life is so sweet, you just need to slow down to be able to drink up the nectar. Lingering is mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, whatever you want it to be. For me the key is that it’s simple, can be done anywhere at pretty much any time, and with practice becomes second nature.

With that said, I invite you to join me in the adventure and sweetness of The Linger Movement.
